Student Night Event: Fraud Prevention and Detection

Event Information: This is our annual Student Night Event which will be co-sponsored by the Madison IIA.

Two auditors from the TDS Internal Control and Audit Services department will share a presentation focused on occupational fraud. This presentation is used in the TDS Enterprise to increase fraud awareness and improve the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and abuse at TDS. The presentation has examples of occupational fraud including a fraud case that involves a former TDS manager that worked in collusion with a vendor to submit false invoices to TDS. The presentation also contains fraud statistics, information about other tools TDS uses to increase fraud awareness, avenues used to report suspicious activity and tools used by the TDS Internal Control and Audit Services department related to fraud detection.

Speaker Information:

Cindy Schlimgen has been with the TDS family of companies for over 18 years and is currently a member of the TDS Corporate Internal Control and Audit Services team. She is responsible for leading and conducting operational, compliance, fraud and financial audits across the TDS Enterprise. Prior to joining the audit team Cindy held roles in the Financial and Real Estate Services, Credit Analysis and Business Sales Support teams at TDS’ subsidiary, U.S. Cellular. Cindy is a Six Sigma Green Belt and a UW-Madison graduate.

Will Sharp has been with TDS for two and half years and is currently a member of the TDS Corporate Internal Control and Audit Services team. He is responsible for conducting operational, compliance, fraud and financial audits across the TDS Enterprise. Prior to joining TDS, Will was an Internal Auditor at Great Lakes Higher Education. Will earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater.

·         “Ratatouille” Stack (Vegetarian) – Portabella mushroom, fresh mozzarella, zucchini, eggplant, summer squash, red onion, grilled asparagus, tomato sauce.
